So.
After yet another day of feeling like assbrine, I hunkered down on the couch to watch some UPN (Nascar was on Fox, and a gal's gotta draw the line somewhere) but fell asleep for a bit. And when I woke up? Marvin's Room was on.
I remember that movie. I had just moved to Florida a few months earlier and I was working for Disney as a travel agent. I was still writing but for some reason, landlords don’t consider freelance journalism as a steady job for your apartment application. So I’m working at WDW and I get sent on an errand to the Magic Kingdom to replace some tickets when I ended up almost walking right through a scene they were filming for the movie. LOL Ended up getting to talk to Diane, which was cool because I was an extra in Mrs. Soffel ten years previously [the railroad scenes] and she remembered filming those scenes. Or said she did. LOL Anyways, gracious lady. I haven’t actually seen Marvin’s Room, but I guess I’ll Netflix it. I’m not for the weepies either [though the last half hour of Color Purple does me in everytime], but my roommate loves them.
What was nice about “Marvin’s Room” was that it was quirky as much as it was weepy. The crazy aunt with the medical appliance that activated the garage door? Priceless. (And that’s all I’ll tell you, btw.)
So, you were once attached to the “Evil Empire,” eh? My crazy friend Mer worked a stint on the cruiseline as she was trying to raise the cash for her and her husband to get out of the Slovenian gypsy village they were living in. Funniest. story. EVER. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard in my life.
{rolling eyes} gee, thanks for the Lifetime channel review of Marvin’s Room. lol =p
ShutUP, TIMMY! It’s no FAIR ragging on a sick person! ;P
