You know how you sent the cd to me? Did you send those as mp3 files or iTunes files? And if I were to send iTunes files, would the person on the receiving end download them as iTunes files or mp3? Need to know.
Not your cd; I have Peapod’s setlist done, and I thought it would be easier for me to send it to Pop the way you did instead of putting it on cd; if I remember right, the songs will import as iTunes instead of mp3s if I burn them to disc.

Those were sent as basic mp3 files. iTunes just “knows” that it’s supposed to play mp3 files.
And suck them in.
And assimilate them.
And never let you see them “naked” again.
See, iTunes files *are* mp3 files. For the most part. Sure there’s some fucked up formats that iTunes will play that your garden variety player won’t, but in the end, they’re just mp3’s.
The problem comes in when you want to do exactly what you ask; send those files to someone else. Apple doesn’t like the idea of you doing that, and they would rather that you just forgot that you ever thought of doing it in the first place.
iTunes uses it’s own fucked up method for storing them, but essentially, all iTunes is, is a database engine for indexing (keeping track of) your mp3 collection.
Wad’s seen what iTunes will do to an mp3. It’s not pretty. Since it’s (iTunes) a database engine, it can name the file any old thing that it wants. So what used to be “Grandma got run over by a reindeer.mp3” is now SJDKJ33rF.mp3.
In iTunes though, the software makes an association that “Grandma got run over by a reindeer.mp3” = SJDKJ33rF.mp3.
So. That said, there’s many ways to “get” files out of iTunes. Your best bet is going to be doing some research on programs that allow you to “backup” your iTunes files. Many of those programs will allow you to extract the original mp3’s.
If you want to send those exact files to someone else, just forward them the email that you got pointing you to them in the first place. They’re still on that server and will be until someone figures out that they’re copywritten material.
