A republican Klan supporter! Guess it proves there are assholes on both sides.
Where I grew up, cedar lake, crown point area, the klan was, and still is, pretty strong. And, every last one a Democrat, which poisoned me on that party from a very early age.

sorry about the bad link.
And, then, of course, there’s always the Democratic Senator from West Virginia, who spent many years as a “Kleagle”—an official recruiter who signed up members for $10 a head. He said he joined because it “offered excitement” and because the Klan was an “effective force” in “promoting traditional American values.” yeah, Bobby Byrd, you’re a Traditional American. cough(bullshit)cough
Personally, I was astonished by how racist “The Region” was when I was shipped out there by my company in the ‘90s. Compared to the upbringing I had in Southern California, it felt like I was back in the ‘60s.
Well, maybe not that far back, but at least the ‘70s.
Considering how racist everyone came off to me, I can only imagine how liberal I must have seemed to everyone else… and I’m actually rather conservative compared to most of my friends out here. Take gun control and abortion off the table, and I’m pretty much in line with most things Republican.
In reality, I’m a middle-of-the-road type when it comes to politics. Neither party has the right combination, everyone’s shilling themselves for the vote, and our lawmakers are toeing the party line harder now than any time since the ‘50s. It just leaves a bad taste in the mouth unless you’re the type that blindly follows or tries to rationalize politics. (Politics rational? Feh!)
The whole filibuster crap was nonsense. Both parties were arguing the same side to prove their point, at least in the case of Brown. Democrats saying that she lets her conservative politics get in the way of her decisions, Republicans saying that she deserves support because she was nominated… for those very same conservative politics. (And by the way, supporting her because she was nominated is about as dumb an argument as I’ve heard since grade school. Now go jump off a cliff with all your other friends...)
You ask me, it should be simple. Did she uphold the law or did she act to bend the law to her political whim. I’m not saying the law is absolute, but you can’t just raspberry the will of the people.
The majority party in DC is getting pretty cocky if you ask me; threatening to change the vote for the filibuster, attempting to overrule the Supreme Court to save a terminally ill patient. I’m not suggesting the Democrats are saints, they’d probably be forcibly pushing their own agenda if the roles were reversed. No one party should have too much power or shit like this starts to happen and it’s all downhill from here people.
Can’t wait to see the circus if a seat on the Supreme Court becomes available.
Anyone but Hillary in 2008,

Dix, you need to let me buy you a beer someday.
Well, Dix and his lady need to get their fancy California asses UP here for that. Of course, I’m not sure where they’d stay since Dix is deathly allergic to felines, and the two places they could crash—my crib or the Weas’—are riddled with them. But yeah, they SHOULD come back for a visit.
Nice cheap clean Holiday Inn Express right by Chez Og
If we weren’t already committed to spending $2,000 (before food and entertainment) to attend a wedding in Hawaii this year, I might be all over a trip to The Region.
One of my lady’s college friends decided to save money by having a destination wedding on Kauaii. Problem is, this is saving money for her, not for those who are standing in her ceremony. Granted, we’re staying a few extra days to try and make a bit of a vacation out of it (why the hell not?) but to expect your wedding party to shell out a grand apiece for *your* wedding is just absurd.
And the kicker? The reception is a run-of-the-mill tourist trap Luau. $70 a person. Not being covered by the couple.
NO GIFT FOR YOU!
