That’s some balls … or something …

Today, the New York Post published a picture of a woman jumping to her death off a 24-story building.

You know, I could understand publishing the pictures of people jumping out of the Twin Towers, because I'd like to think that they did what they did out of hope that someone somehow would save them. But to capture someone's pain like that and broadcast it to the world? That's not even art, for Chrissake.

I couldn’t agree more. I saw the photo and couldn’t believe someone would run a photo like that. It’s sick.

I know, right? People are going argue that students killing themselves at NYU is news and therefore should be portrayed, but there are more humane, if played-out, ways to do it. I remember having a hemorrhage when, several years ago, our competition did a story on emergency rooms, and the photog took a picture of a woman who’d either tried to kill herself or going through the DTs or something. They didn’t show her face—her hair was covering it—but she was strapped to the gurney. I was HORRIFIED.
