I was talking to one of my sources the other day at a meeting (she happens to be African-American), and we got to talking about high schools. The exact context will probably come to me later, but I started talking about how I think this one area Catholic high school is breeding these Stephen Hawking-esque creatures. And she agreed, but she said that schools in general, and parochial schools in particular, are teaching these ways of life that don't necessarily resonate with the African-American community. For example, a two-parent household where the parents are married is a nice thought and perhaps the ideal in most circles, but it's not a situation that many African-American kids can fathom -- or many other kinds of students, for that matter, since the family isn't anything close to nuclear anymore. Therefore, how really useful is it to force-feed an experience to a group that can't even digest what you're serving? In the case of FRC jackasses, I sincerely hope it isn't at all.

Still, I'm all about starting a movement, even though it'd be about three days after the fact according to one smartass I know. (Yeah, thanks for that, David. Pissing up my rope like that ...)
